Reasoning Patterns
Four modes of reasoning — verbal, quantitative, logical and pattern-based — and which of them the employee is most practised in today.
What it measures
This tool is not for ranking students and not for judging anyone. The aim is for you to see **which door** this student comes through into the problem: through the word? through the number? through a chain of "if... then"? through visual repetition? Once you know their open door you explain from it, and once you know the door they have not knocked on you train them on it — and both of those are useful, and both of them fall on the way of thinking, not on the person.
How to read the result

Before administering
Tell the students before they begin: "This is not a graded test and it does not count in your assessment, and nobody will be compared with anybody. These are questions about ways of thinking, and each question has one right answer, so take your time and think before you choose. If you do not know, choose the nearest thing you can see and then move on." And hold the sitting at a comfortable time of the day, with no calculator and no paper, and do not announce anyone's result in front of anyone.
Its limits
⚠️ This is an in-house tool with no norming: its items were written on the platform and have not been tried out on a reference sample, so it has no norm, no percentile rank and no standard score, and it is not compared with the result of any other test. And the score is a description of one sitting on one day: sleep, attention, tension and the time of the lesson all enter into the number, and the tool cannot separate them from the reasoning itself. And the form of the items — measuring, sequencing and comparing — is a form that is learned by practice, which is why most people's scores rise in the second sitting without anything in them having changed. And so: this result is not used to place a student in a track, or in a group, or to describe them with any label, and no referral, no admission decision and no exclusion is built on it alone. Whoever wanted it as a sorting tool has used it wrongly, and the platform says of itself: it is not a diagnostic tool — and it will not be one.
Its dimensions
- Verbal ReasoningWhen high: The student grasps the relation between two words and carries it over to another pair, and picks out the odd one in a set.
- Quantitative ReasoningWhen high: The student reads the relation between numbers — ratio, average and sequence — and completes it without paper.
- Logical ReasoningWhen high: The student follows “if … then” through to its necessary conclusion, and tells what follows from what does not.
- Pattern RecognitionWhen high: The student picks up the rule of repetition in interlocking shapes, letters or numbers and completes it.
